El Bajo
El Bajo: (pronounced: El ba-hoe) - El Bajo is a series of sea mounts rising between app.20m (60ft) and 40m (120ft) of the surface. They are about 1/4 mile in diameter and attract a large number of pelagics who come here to feed. The walls drop a staggering 2000 feet down to the floor of the Sea of Cortez. It is a site for advanced divers due to strong currents. Expect to see resident schooling scalloped hammerheads, whale sharks, the Giant Pacific manta rays 7m (20ft wingspan), marlins and several specials of large schooling fish. It is considered to be the best dive site in the Sea of Cortez.
