To venture into the captivating Sea of Cortez, located on the east coast of the Baja Peninsula, puts you ” Up Close and Personal ” with some of the most dramatic and exciting wildlife encounters imaginable! Unlike other popular diving destinations such as the Caribbean, the Sea of Cortez does not have 100 feet plus visibility or year-round warm water temperatures, however, the water is nutritiously rich and it supports a wide variety of large sea animals. Dubbed as “The World’s Largest Fish Trap,” the area is home to over 800 species of fish and 2,000 species of invertebrates. Divers of every level of experience can enjoy this region. You’ll have the opportunity to encounter the “Big Guys” when diving in La Paz. Resident hammerheads, whale sharks, manta rays, sea lions are very common at the dive sites in and around La Paz. It is truly an amazing experience to dive into a whirlpool of hundreds of jacks, snorkel with a 40-foot whale shark, dive with frolicking sea lion pups or to be surrounded by giant manta rays.
